Best book this year? It would have to be the Jenny Uglow bio of Elizabeth Gaskell that I just got around to finishing. Simply wonderful. Best fiction? Daphne, by Justine Picardie Best reread? A tie between Wives and Daughters by E. Gaskell and Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen - both are forever young to me.
